Every assumption on these pages is yours. The site supplies no expected return, no inflation figure, no contribution limit, no tax bracket and no safe withdrawal rate, because each is either a forecast nobody can make or a figure that changes every year, and a stale or borrowed default turns arithmetic into advice. What the pages do supply is the arithmetic done carefully: projections compound month by month without rounding along the way, results are shown in today’s money as well as in future money, a Roth and a traditional account are compared on the same out-of-pocket cost so that equal tax rates give identical results, and an employer match is modelled tier by tier so the money left unclaimed is shown in cash. A projection over thirty years is only as good as the return you give it, so try more than one.
