How to use the OAS Clawback Calculator

  1. Enter your net income for the year, line 23400 of your return.
  2. Pick the income year. The clawback on 2026 income is taken from payments from July 2027 to June 2028.
  3. Pick your age band, since OAS is 10% higher from 75.
  4. Read how much OAS you repay and how much you keep.

The calculation

The OAS recovery tax takes back 15 cents of OAS for each dollar of net income above the threshold.

repaid = 15% × (net income − threshold), never more than the year's OASkept = OAS for the year − repaid

The page values the year’s OAS at the October to December 2026 rate: $762.50 a month from 65 to 74 and $838.75 from 75. OAS rises with inflation each quarter, so the real figure will be a little higher.

With your numbers

Common questions about the OAS Clawback Calculator

When does the OAS clawback start?
When net income is above $93,454 for 2025, or $95,323 for 2026. Above that, you repay 15% of the income over the threshold, up to the whole pension.
At what income is OAS clawed back completely?
For 2026 income, at about $155,320 for ages 65 to 74 and $161,320 for 75 and over. Above those amounts you receive no OAS.
How is it collected?
Service Canada takes it from your monthly OAS payments in advance, based on your previous return, from July to the following June. It is reconciled when you file.
How can I reduce the clawback?
Anything that lowers net income helps: pension income splitting with a spouse, RRSP deductions before 72, drawing from a TFSA, which isn't income, and timing capital gains. Deferring OAS to 70 also raises the pension by 0.6% a month.
