Health risk
Estimates from named published equations, for context rather than diagnosis.
Blood Alcohol Calculator
See what NHTSA’s blood alcohol method estimates from what you entered, and how wide the range around that estimate really is.
eGFR Calculator
See the estimated glomerular filtration rate the race-free CKD-EPI 2021 equation gives for a creatinine result, age and sex. An estimate, not a diagnosis.
A1C Calculator
Convert an A1C result to estimated average glucose in mg/dL or mmol/L, or an average back to A1C, with the ADAG equation, and A1C between % and mmol/mol.
Blood Sugar Converter
Convert blood glucose between mg/dL and mmol/L using the molar mass of glucose, and see how far the rounded factor of 18 moves the answer.
Risk equations can provide context without deciding whether a person is safe, impaired or ill. The category is deliberately narrow: a Widmark alcohol estimate for education, and the race-free CKD-EPI 2021 kidney-function estimate, which places a creatinine result in the KDIGO categories without diagnosing anything. Alcohol absorption, distribution and elimination vary widely, so an estimate must never be used to decide whether to drive or perform a safety-critical task. If safety is uncertain, choose the safer action regardless of the number. An eGFR is read by a clinician alongside other tests, never on its own.
