Academic results are arithmetic estimates based on the values you enter. Your syllabus, school policies, transcript and official degree audit control actual grades and progress. Confirm important figures with your instructor, adviser or registrar. Read the full disclaimer
How to use the Degree Progress Calculator
- Enter the credit total required by the official program or degree audit.
- Enter completed applicable credits, accepted transfer credits and current in-progress credits without overlap.
- Enter a realistic future course load and review remaining credits and terms.
Credit progress, not an official degree audit
The calculator subtracts only applicable credit totals:
posted applicable credits = completed + accepted transferposted credits remaining = required − posted applicable creditsfuture terms = ceil(remaining after current term ÷ planned load)
Keep each credit in one input only. If the transcript’s completed total already contains accepted transfer credit, leave the separate transfer field at zero. In-progress credits are projected separately because a registration is not yet an earned credit.
The result cannot place courses into requirement groups or verify prerequisites, minimum grades, residency rules, repeats, internships or capstone work. An official degree audit can show 120 accumulated credits and still identify a missing required course. Use this estimate to plan questions for an adviser, not to certify completion.
With your numbers
- Posted applicable credits = completed + accepted transfer = 78.
- Posted credits remaining = 42.
- After in-progress credits, 30 remain, or 2 planned terms.
Quick reference
Credit totals do not verify required courses, prerequisites, residency rules or course availability.

| 120-credit program with transfer and current term | 42 |
| Halfway through a 120-credit program | 60 |
| No transfer or in-progress credits | 45 |
| Program total already met | 0 |
| Accepted transfer credit included | 60 |
| Part-time future load | 36 |
Common questions about the Degree Progress Calculator
- Should transfer credits be included?
- Include only credits formally accepted toward this program and not already included in completed credits.
- Why are posted and after-current-term totals separate?
- In-progress courses have not yet been earned. The first result uses posted credits; the projection assumes the current term is completed.
- Does reaching the credit total guarantee graduation?
- No. Programs may also require specific courses, minimum grades, residency, placements, a thesis or other non-credit conditions.
- Can course availability delay the estimate?
- Yes. Prerequisites and courses offered only in certain terms can make the calendar longer than simple credit division suggests.
